Flora and fauna

As far as the vegetation, the Tuscany add species typical of the montana area, alpine, and species even spiccatamente Mediterranean: a natural panorama derives some much varied. All immediately wraps it rear the coast, characterized from hills that catch up an altitude of 300-400 meters, is occupied from species Mediterranean: typical formation vegetable is the spot sempreverde, is with shrubs (mirto, rosmarino, lavender, erica, corbezzolo, lentisco etc.) it is with trees (leccio, domestic and marine pine). It is an area that more resumptions, sin from remote age, but above all to leave from the 1800's, has been object of participations of reclamation and reforestation. The area dictates submontana, until to approximately 1.000 meters of quota, has instead its more peculiar flora in the forests of chestnut trees and oaks, that they cover the depositors of the Antiappennino and the Appennino; to of over, until to the 1,700 meters (consequently only on the Appennino), the forests of faggi and firs are spread. Altogether the forests occupy 9,000 km² nearly and are progressively increasing in spontaneous way because of the abandonment, from part of the peasants, of immense areas a time cultivated. The Tuscany is the region of Italy with the most extended surface than territory held to forest, par to two fifth of that regional one; however perlopiù draft of forests that do not concur an abundant lumber production. Insufficient they are moreover the areas (between which the cited forest of the Abetone) blankets from forests of alpine conifers. Finally the grassy carpets of the montani pastures cover the little zones situated above i 1,700 m of quota; the extreme north of the Appennino, large way between the step of the Cisa and the mount Horn to the Scales, represents the southern limit until to which some alpine flowers are pushed, like the purpurea genziana. The fauna, a rich time and varies, has been decimated from centuries and centuries of venatoria activity: the Tuscany is in fact the region with the highest number than hunters (meaning for such how many annually demands the relative one allowed). The Fen still accommodates the wild boar and little exemplary of capriolo and red deer; more numerous they are, above all in the areas mounts some, the populations of rate, lepre and vixen. Between the birds, of step or it allocates them, number enough numerous the starna, the woodcock and the tortora; but above all interesting is the fauna of the lagoon of Orbetello, that it comprises several species of trampolieri and other aquatic birds us (folaga, germano etc).
